COMMITMENT

Lake County is home to 122 bioscience companies and over 33,000 life sciences jobs, with RFU's campus located within 15 minutes of these industry leaders. Yet despite this concentration of innovation, Illinois faces a critical gap: aside from NU's cancer Phase I unit and AbbVie's Phase I unit, there is no dedicated Phase I clinical trial facility in the state. With approximately 50 Phase I trials conducted by Illinois life science companies annually, the majority are forced to run out-of-state due to the lack of local infrastructure.

Biopharma Hubs in the nation

RFU is nearly doubling its Helix 51 biomedical incubator—adding 6,000 square feet of lab and office space to accommodate up to 10 additional startups.

As the only incubator of its kind in Lake County, Helix 51 gives early-stage biotechs the launchpad they need to develop therapies in oncology, neurology, and infectious disease.
